What is a ‘Jesse Tree’, and why a Supplement?

It is a family activity for Advent, which is the season just before Christmas. The family will set up a small tree, and hang on it one decoration a day. Each decoration is a reminder about a story from the Bible. The stories show how God prepared the world for the birth of Jesus Christ, his Son. The Supplement enables you to cover some other events, such as the Presentation in the Temple, the coming of the Wise Men, and so on.

Why are they called Jesse Trees?

Historically, Jesse Trees have been works of art which show the human ancestry of Jesus Christ, as a family tree. Because Jesus is descended from King David, who was a son of Jesse, this became known as a Jesse Tree. Christian families often use Jesse Trees to retell the story of the Bible, using a symbol or picture as a reminder of each story.
